JUSTIN QUENNEVILLE TO COACH 2012 NAHL SELECTS U18 TEAM

Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – In his first year as head coach of the Corpus Christi IceRays team, Justin Quenneville has been named the head coach of the 2012 NAHL Selects U18 team in the upcoming 2012 Top Prospects Tournament that is held from February 20th to February 22nd in Troy, Michigan.

The Top Prospects Tournament showcases the best players from around the North American Hockey League in a round-robin type format. The NAHL Selects U18 team is chosen with the league’s best players who are under the age of 18 years old.

“I am excited for the opportunity as much as I grateful to be considered to represent the team behind the bench,” said IceRays head coach Justin Quenneville. “This event however is all about the players and their achievements and I will look only to help in the players exposure for the tournament. I look forward to being behind the bench and I believe having a U18 team in the showcase shows great strides by the league in an environment that will be packed with scouts from every level. I know several critics will dismiss the U18 team because of the lack of experience, but I guarantee you that they will play with passion, compete and drive, and we will look to turn some heads against the older division representatives.”

The IceRays have followed a similar route this season and have already promoted young players to the USHL and college ranks. Quenneville continued, “I am fortunate to be a part of an organization that is building a model for youth in our league and looking to expose players to as many opportunities as possible.”

The IceRays have five players who are traveling to Michigan to participate in the event. Perry D’Arrisso, Beau Walker, and Frank Misuraca will represent the South Division while Anthony Stolarz and Brandon Smith have been selected to the NAHL Selects U18 squad.
