Brent Wold of the Portage Terriers has been named the RBC Player of the Month for January, MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis announced today.
The veteran forward from Lac du Bonnet recorded 20 points (9-11) in 12 games for the Terriers, who are first in the very tight Addison Division. Wold, 18, sits atop the Terriers’ points race with 23 goals and 59 points after 49 games. He’s proven particularly potent when the Terriers hold a man advantage, with Wold scoring seven powerplay goals this season.
The runners up are 19 year old Jesse Sinatynski of the Dauphin Kings and 18 year old goaltender Jayson Argue of the Swan Valley Stampeders.
Sherwood Hockey Defenseman of the Month
The Sherwood Hockey Defenseman of the Month is Lane Werbowski of the Selkirk Steelers. The 20-year-old Winnipegger was steady at both ends of the rink, displaying solid defensive play, in addition to contributing offensively: 10 points (3-7).
The runners up are 20 year old Brenden Kotyk of the Dauphin Kings and 20 year old Dylan Heide of the Selkirk Steelers.
MGEU Goaltender of the Month
The MGEU Goaltender of the Month is Jayson Argue of the Swan Valley Stampeders. The 18-year-old from Swan River was outstanding last month, reflected in a sparkling 8-1 record and 2.11 GAA and .930 save percentage.
The runners up are 20 year old Shea Cooper of the Portage Terriers and 19 year old Adam Harris of the Selkirk Steelers.
Husky Energy Rookie of the Month
The Husky Energy Rookie of the Month is Colin Baudry of the Swan Valley Stampeders. The 17-year-old rookie was on a point-per-game pace, with four goals and 12 points in 12 games.
The runners up are 18 year old goaltender Isaiah Plett of the Winnipeg Blues and 18 year old forward Justin Valentino of the Swan Valley Stampeders.(Nathan can be reached at fourniern@students.nescom.edu)
