SIJHL announces 1 vs. 2 Showdown dates and times

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday the dates and times for the upcoming 1 vs. 2 Showdown playoff series between the Wisconsin Wilderness and Fort Frances Lakers.

Both teams have already secured their place in the overall standings as the top two squads in regular season play with Wisconsin capturing their second consecutive SIJHL regular season crown while the Lakers will go into the postseason as the No. 2 overall seed.

This 1 vs. 2 Showdown will feature a pair of two-game, total-goal mini-series with the overall winner earning the right to choose their opponent in semifinal play.

It will commence March 2-3 in a pair of 7 p.m. starts at the home of the Wilderness, the Northwest Sports Complex in Spooner, Wis.

From there the second leg will be staged March 9-10 at Ice for Kids Arena in Fort Frances. Face-off in each of those contests will be 7:30 p.m.

Should the total goals after games two and four be even, a shootout will be used to determine the particular series winner.

If each side has won one series apiece, yet another shootout will take place after game four, which will be used to determine the overall winner.

Wisconsin and Fort Frances also met in the 1 vs. 2 Showdown last season with each side winning one series each before the Wilderness won the overall showdown via a shootout that was required to determine a winner.
