1991 D Tyson Newell (Prince Albert SK) has been one of the most prolific offensive defensemen in the SJHL for the last two years and he's finishing up his 20-year-old campaign extremely strong. Newell had 2-goals and 13-assists in 12-games during the month of January and is the league leader in blueliners for points. SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Dillon Schwartzenberger, Notre Dame Hounds
1993 F Dillon Schwartzenberger (Saskatoon SK) was pegged by Hounds coach Kevin White at the start of the season as a player to watch for and Schwartzenberger has made good on that prediction with 24-points in his first 40-games as an SJHL regular. He is continuing to improve with each passing game and ended January with 6-goals and 5-assists in 9-games played.
Honorable Mentions: Dawson MacAuley, Yorkton; Jesse Bernard, Nipawin; Taran Kozun, Nipawin.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Matt Hrynkiw, Humboldt Broncos
1992 G Matt Hrynkiw (Saskatoon SK) has emerged as a very formidable last line of defense for the Humboldt Broncos this season, compiling a record of 20-and-2 with a GAA of 2.27 and a SPCT of .920. As hard as it may be to believe, Hrynkiw managed to actually lower his GAA and improve his SPCT during the month of January as he went 5-and-0. Three wins were by shutout, meaning he had a GAA for the month of 0.80. His SPCT in January was an outstanding .967.
Honorable Mentions: Colin Dzijacky, Humboldt; Davis Jones, Nipawin; Connor Creech, Battlefords.
