The Chicago Steel announced that forward Ali Thomas has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Notre Dame.
Playing in his first USHL season, Thomas collected 18 points (12g, 6a) in 53 games for the Steel in 2011-12. Three of the goals for the 19-year-old for New York, New York were game-winners. Thomas scored six of his goals over an eight-game span from February 12th to March 9th. The Steel posted an 8-2-1 record in games that the forward scored a goal.
Nine other USHL players from the 2011-12 season have also committed to play hockey at the University of Notre Dame – Andrew Oglevie (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Justin Wade (Fargo Force), Sam Herr (Green Bay Gamblers), Robin Hoglund (Sioux City Musketeers), Andy Ryan (Sioux City Musketeers), Dawson Cook (Team USA), Thomas DiPauli (Team USA), Kevin Labanc (Team USA), and Vince Hinostroza (Waterloo Black Hawks).
