Press Release

Penticton, BC- The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce recruit Evan Anderson has committed to the Michigan Tech Huskies.

Anderson, 18, hails from Littleton, Colorado where he just completed his final season with the Colorado Thunderbirds Major Midget U18 team in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. Anderson led the team in scoring with 15 goals and 31 points in 39 games, helping guide the T-birds to the Rocky Mountain District Championship, and a National Championship appearance in Williamsville, New York.

Vees Head Coach & GM Fred Harbinson says Anderson is a great pickup for the Huskies, “Evan is coming off a great season in Colorado where he was a leader and a go-to player for his team. Mel Pearson is doing great things with Michigan Tech and that program is already turning a lot of heads in the WCHA.”

This past season, under first-year Head Coach Mel Pearson, the Huskies assembled a 16-19-4 record and advanced to the WCHA Tournament quarter-final. A remarkable year, after the Huskies finished with only four wins the previous season. For his efforts, Pearson was named the WCHA Coach of the Year in March. The Huskies have and been a member of the WCHA since 1959 and they play out of the John J. MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton, Michigan.
