Cougars Sign Brad Morrison.

Press Release

The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce that they have signed forward Brad Morrison to a Standard Western Hockey League contract.

Morrison (1997-Westside, B.C.) was selected by the Prince George Cougars seventh overall in the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. Morrison (5’9”, 140 pounds) scored 83 goals and finished with 141 points with the Okanagan Hockey Academy last season

“I’ve lived in Prince George before, and I have some family there which definitely makes it easier,” said Brad Morrison. “It gives me a lot of confidence heading into Midget, now I’ve just got to train hard and make sure I’m ready.”

“He’s a very dynamic player,” said Prince George Cougars Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel, Wade Klippenstein on the day of the draft. “He scores goals, and that’s an area that we want to get better in. He’s a natural goal scorer.”

In order to draft Morrison with the seventh overall pick, the Prince George Cougars completed a trade with the Everett Silvertips that saw the Cougars send the 11th overall pick, the rights to Jujhar Khaira, and a third round pick to Everett. The Cougars also received Jari Erricson and a conditional fourth-round pick in the deal.

Morrison and fellow first round draft pick Jansen Harkins have now both officially signed with the Prince George Cougars.
