Defenseman Taylor Richart Commits to University of Miami-Ohio

Press Release

Fargo Force’s defenseman Taylor Richart has committed to the University of Miami-Ohio for the fall of 2012.

“We are very proud of him and happy for him,” said head coach John Marks on Friday. “Taylor is a great kid and now we’ve got a big hole to fill. We want to wish him all the best at Miami. He has certainly earned it with all of his hard work.”

Richart played one year with the Fargo Force and was one of just two players to play all 60 games during the 2011-12 season. He posted 16 points (7g, 9a) throughout the year and was a +8 rating. Six of his seven goals scored were on the power play. The Blaine, MN, product was also named USHL Defenseman of the Week one time throughout the season.

“I talked to the coaches at Miami and they said I was ready to come in this fall,” said Richart. “The campus is amazing, the guys on the team are great and the rink is really nice. It kind of reminds me of Fargo. It was a good year in Fargo. I learned a lot from Byron and Coach Marks. Byron is one of the best defensive coaches I have had, and Marks is a great coach as well. It was an honor to play for both of them.”

Richart will join former Fargo Force players Steven Spinell (2008-09) and Jimmy Mullin (2010-11) at Miami.
