Press Release

Newmarket Hurricanes forward Daniel Leavens (photo credit - Brian Watts/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Robert Morris University Colonials beginning with the 2013-14 Atlantic Hockey season.

The 6'2", 188 lbs. native of Thornhill, Ontario recently completed his third season in the OJHL. He joined the league as a 16-year old member of the Hamilton Red Wings back in 2009-10 and would record a respectable 21 points in 47 regular season games for the club, while earning an invitation to partcipate as a member of the CCHL Prospects Team at the Battle of Ontario. After starting the 2010-11 season on a point/game pace with six points, Leavens was moved to the powerhouse Newmarket Hurricanes organization. Increasing his overall point production to 36 points, Leavens finished seventh overall in scoring on the veteran club. This past year, Leavens was now one of the undisputed leaders on the Hurricanes and did not disappoint, finishing second with 22 goals and third with 53 points in only 43 games played.

Congratulations to Daniel on the commitment and we look forward to seeing you back and better than ever this season in Newmarket!
