ROBINSON AWARDED OHA CRYSTAL PUCK

Press Release

This past weekend at the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) Annual General Meeting, it was announced that Whitby Fury General Manager Frank Robinson has been awarded the prestigious OHA Crystal Puck.

The OHA Crystal Puck Award is presented annually to recognize individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions with the OHA.

Robinson becomes the first OJHL member to be recognized in the award's four year history. A longtime member of the Durham Region hockey community, he coached for 14 years in the Ajax and the Ajax/Pickering minor hockey programs at the Select, 'A', 'AA' and 'AAA' levels. Robinson would make the jump to junior hockey in 2002-03, joining the Pickering Panthers, initially as their Director of Player Development and later as the club's General Manager.

After tasting considerable success with the Panthers, the veteran administrator joined the Whitby Fury organization and recently completed his fifth and most successful junior season as the club's General Manager, leading the club to the OJHL Championship Series before bowing out in six games to the Stouffville Spirit.

"Frank receiving this award is truly a recognition of all the hard work and dedication that he gives to our sport, our league and especially to the Whitby Fury. Our team success is only achieved through his love of hockey," commented OJHL Chairman and Whitby Fury Governor Scotty McCrory upon hearing of the accolade.

Congratulations to Frank on the well-deserved honour. He will be presented with the Crystal Puck in a special pre-game ceremony prior to a 2012-13 Whitby Fury home game.
