Senators sign forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau to entry-level contract

Press Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has signed forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau to a three-year entry-level contract. Pageau recently completed the 2011-12 season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Chicoutimi Saguenéens, following a mid-season trade from the Gatineau Olympiques. Pageau helped the Saguenéens advance to the QMJHL playoff semifinal, where they were eliminated in five games by the eventual league-champion Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Senators’ fourth-round pick (96th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Pageau recorded 65 points (32 goals, 33 assists) and 25 penalty minutes over 46 games with Gatineau and Chicoutimi this past season. In 2012 post-season play, the Ottawa native added 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 16 games.

Pageau, 19, was selected to represent Team QMJHL in the 2011 SUBWAY Super Series, playing two games against Russia. He recorded one assist in a 5-4 loss on Nov. 9 in Quebec City.

In 175 career QMJHL contests with Gatineau and Chicoutimi, Pageau has registered 175 points (80 goals, 95 assists) while totalling 67 penalty minutes. He set career highs in games played (67), goals (32), assists (47) and points (79) in 2010-11 with Gatineau, and helped the Olympiques advance to the QMJHL President’s Cup final.
