Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell announced this morning that Jack Eichel, the Club's 15th overall selection in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft, will not be reporting to Halifax for next month's training camp.
Eichel, a forward from North Chelmsford, Massachusetts recorded 86 points in just 36 games last season with the Boston Junior Bruins of the Empire Junior Hockey League. He will play for the US U-17 Development team this season in Ann Arbour, Michigan.
"Obviously, we're disappointed that Jack won't be with us this season", stated Russell. "At the same time, this was not a short term selection on our part, as we knew he was committed to the US Under 17 program for this upcoming season. We'll continue to stay in touch with the Eichel family to convince them that Halifax is the best spot for Jack's development next year and beyond".
