Nanne Joins Vees

Press Release

PENTICTON, BC– The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Louie Nanne (94) for the 2012-13 season.

Nanne comes to Penticton from Edina, Minnesota where he played high school hockey for the Edina High Hornets, the same school as Vees alumni Steven Fogarty. In his junior year, Nanne scored 15 goals and collected 27 points in 28 games, helping the Hornets to an appearance in the 2AA Minnesota State Championship Tournament.

The 18 year-old was a 7th round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in this past June’s NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nanne comes from rich hockey bloodlines. His grandfather Lou Nanne Sr. was a defenseman in the NHL, where he played parts of 12 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars. Nanne Sr. also spent another 11 seasons in the North Stars front office as their General Manager.

Vees Head Coach & GM Fred Harbinson likes Nanne’s well-rounded game, “When you talk about Louie Nanne within the hockey circles the one constant variable that comes up is work ethic. Louie is a strong two way player that has the ability to shoot the puck like a pro. I feel very fortunate that Louie has decided that the Vees and the BCHL will be his next step in his hockey career.”

Nanne has committed to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers for the fall of 2013. Minnesota plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association where they’ve enjoyed a rich history. The Gophers have won 12 regular season titles and 14 Conference Championships to go along with their five NCAA National Championships.

The Penticton Vees organization would like to welcome Louie to the team and to the South Okanagan.
