Smokies Add Berkholtz, Adduono

Press Release

TRAIL -- The Trail Smoke Eaters are pleased to announce the acquisition of two veteran forwards in separate deals this week.

The Smokies have received forward Tyler Berkholtz (92) from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs for future considerations.

Berkholtz, a native of Penticton, played three years with Alberni Valley, scoring 32 points (8-24) in 47 games during the 2011-12 season. He scored a career-high 20 goals and 38 points as a Bulldog in 2010-11.

The Smoke Eaters have also completed the signing of 19 year-old forward Austin Adduono. The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario scored 22 points last season in the North American Hockey League with the Wichita Falls Wildcats and Dawson Creek Rage.

As a rookie with the Wisconsin Wilderness, Adduono led the Superior International Junior Hockey League in scoring with 72 points during the 2010-11 season. He was also named SIJHL Rookie of the Year and helped the Wilderness to a league championship.

Both Berkholtz and Adduono will report to Smoke Eaters main camp, which begins August 24th at Cominco Arena.
