WHL ANNOUNCES SUMMER PROSPECTS CAMP

Press Release

Calgary, AB -- The Western Hockey League is pleased to announce that it will be holding a WHL Prospects Camp presented by Reebok CCM in Calgary, Alberta, from August 10-12, at Father David Bauer Arena. This camp is by invitation only, and will be attended by the top 102 Major Bantam (1998-born) players in Alberta. The Camp will be the first in the Bantam age category the WHL has hosted in Canada and will focus on player development and education. The Camp will include scrimmages, off-ice player development seminars, and on-ice and off-ice combine testing.

“It is always exciting when you bring together an elite group of athletes for short term competition, and we look forward to having the top Bantam players in Alberta under one roof,” commented WHL Manage of Player Development and Recruitment Tyler Boldt. “This camp will give a great first look at some of the players eligible for the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.”

Players attending the WHL Prospects Camp will be provided with a unique hockey experience and be introduced to the tools they will require to develop to their full potential. WHL Alumni will serve as camp coaches, while the presenting partner Reebok CCM will provide participants with full work-out apparel. This camp will also give the players the unique opportunity to display their talents to WHL scouts leading into the season in which they are eligible to be selected in the WHL Bantam Draft.

Players selected for this camp were identified by WHL Clubs during the past season and by Hockey Alberta following their participation in Team Alberta U15 Skills Camps.

On-ice and off-ice combine testing will be provided by Sport Testing, a national leader in player assessment. Through the Sport Testing website – www.sporttesting.com – players will be able to compare their test results against players from their age group across the country, and gauge their development as they advance to higher levels of hockey.

This is the third in a series of camps presented by Reebok CCM. In March the WHL held a WHL Prospects Camp for Pee Wee aged players, while in April eighty-four players attended the annual WHL U.S. Prospects Camp, held in Anaheim, CA.
