Atlantic Junior Hockey League Teams To Be Guests At USHL Fall Classic

Four Atlantic Junior Hockey League organizations will be guests of the United States Hockey League at the USHL Fall Classic, to be held September 19-22 in Sioux City, Iowa.

The 2012 AJHL semifinal qualifiers – Boston Junior Rangers (formerly Boston Bulldogs), Northern Cyclones, New York Bobcats and Walpole Express – will travel to Sioux City and play exhibition games against each other on September 18-19 as part of the Fall Classic. Dates and times are as follows:

September 18 - 7:00pm
New York Bobcats vs. Boston Junior Rangers

September 18 - 7:00pm
Walpole vs. Northern Cyclones

September 19 - 9:30am
Northern Cyclones vs. New York Bobcats

September 19 - 10:00am
Boston Junior Rangers vs. Walpole
Management and staff of the AJHL teams will also participate in coaching and officiating clinics, and AJHL staff will meet with various USHL team and league officials present at the event.

The USHL Fall Classic, hosted by the USHL, the Sioux City Musketeers and the Sioux City Sports Commission, is the traditional start of the USHL season. All 16 USHL teams compete in front of hundreds of college and professional scouts in exhibition match-ups and the AJHL is proud to become a part of the 2012 event.

“The AJHL has worked with us over the past year to as they strengthen their operations throughout the East Coast and mid-Atlantic regions,” said President and Commissioner Skip Prince, “and we have been impressed by their focus on development and on best practices as their league grows. We look forward to seeing players, coaches and staff flying the AJHL colors and committed to the same development model we champion.”

“Having an AJHL presence at the USHL Fall Classic is a great momentum-builder for the new AJHL,” said AJHL Chairman Bill Flanagan. “We hope to continue a mutually beneficial relationship with the USHL in order to facilitate increased development opportunities for our franchises, players and coaches.”
