Dombrovsky Commits to Yale

Press Release

The Langley Rivermen Junior “A” hockey club is pleased to announce the commitment of defenseman Viktor Dombrovskiy(1996 born) to Yale University for 2015/2016.

The Coquitlam native is getting ready for his first BCHL season with the Rivermen and spent last year playing in the BC Major Midget league with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs. In 36 games, Viktor recorded 3 goals and 11 assists to go along with 22 penalty minutes.

“I’m extremely happy and humble to join a great program like Yale University. It is a great opportunity for me and couldn’t be happier to go there,” said Dombrovskiy.

This is all before the young blue liner has even played his first BCHL game and he realizes this couldn’t be done without help from the organization,

“I can’t thank the entire Rivermen organization enough for helping me land this commitment and that is right from ownership down to the coaching staff. They have been nothing but first class since I have been here.”

Associate Head Coach, Jordan Emmerson couldn’t be more pleased by what he has seen from the 16 year old,

“We are very excited for him with this opportunity. Viktor is a skilled defenseman that is smart with the puck and makes good decisions with it. Yale is a very successful program and we believe he will fit in nicely with them,” Emmerson stated.

As for the upcoming season, Dombrovskiy has a good feeling about this year’s squad,

“I can hardly wait to get the season started. I believe we have a very strong team this year and hopefully we will win a lot of games and have a deep playoff run.”
