New U16 AAA Rampage Coach and Rampage Skills Director

Press Release

The Colorado Rampage would like to welcome Pat Bingham as our new Head Coach of our U16 AAA team. Coach Bingham will also serve as our Director of Skills Development. Bingham, a John Brophy Award winner as the ECHL's Coach of the Year in 2003-2004, is the first Head Coach out of the pros in Rampage history.

Bingham has coached professional hockey for the past 15 seasons. Last year was his first with the Elmira Jackals, where they set several franchise records. Bingham finished with 45 wins, totaling 90 points at the top of the division, and won the Conference Championship. He spent the four prior seasons with the New York Islanders top farm team, the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Vancouver native took over as Bridgeport's head coach in mid-November 2010. Bingham served as an assistant coach with Bridgeport from 2007-2010, contributing to the growth and development of the New York Islanders' top prospects and draft picks. He occupied that same role in the 2005-2006 campaign.

In 2006-2007, Bingham led the UHL's Fort Wayne Komets to the league's best record of 51-21-4 while advancing to the second round of the playoffs. Bingham accumulated two seasons of ECHL head coaching experience with the Wheeling Nailers from 2003-2005. He garnered the league's Coach of the Year accolade in his first season in Wheeling, as the Nailers notched the Eastern Conference's best record of 51-17-4. Bingham led the Nailers to a 38-29-5 record in 2004-2005. His early head coaching days included stints with the Adirondack IceHawks and Asheville Smoke in the UHL, including a Colonial Cup Final appearance with the Smoke in 2000-2001. Bingham began his coaching career as an assistant with the CHL's Huntsville Channel Cats in 1998-1999. The club won the CHL Levins Cup Championship.

As a Head Coach, Bingham has compiled a career record of 335-196-48 for a points percentage of .620. Bingham played professionally for seven seasons from 1989 to 1996 primarily as a forward, tallying 53 goals and 151 assists for 204 points to go along with 1,004 penalty minutes in 315 career games. He won the ECHL's Riley Cup in 1990-1991 as a member of the league-champion Hampton Roads Admirals.

Following an extensive professional career, Bingham is experienced and is eager to join the Colorado Rampage Hockey program. "This is an exciting time for me and my family. It is my goal to contribute to the success of the program and help young people achieve their hockey dreams."

Bingham and his wife, Tanya, have a son, Evan.
