Oil Kings Name Reinhart Captain

Edmonton, AB - Oil Kings Head Coach Derek Laxdal announced the team captains for the 2012-13 season including the fifth Captain in the modern era of the franchise. Defenseman Griffin Reinhart has been selected to wear the ‘C’ as the Oil Kings Captain. Reinhart became the Oil Kings highest NHL draft pick in team history this past summer as he was selected 4th overall by the New York Islanders. The 6'4, 202 pound native of West Vancouver also spent time overseas this summer as a member of Team Canada at the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge.

In 2011-12 Reinhart set career highs with 58 games played, 12 goals, 24 assists, 36 points, a plus/minus rating of +23 and 38 penalty minutes. He was named an Oil Kings Assistant Captain and helped lead the team to their first WHL Championship in the modern era.

Five Oil Kings players will serve as alternate captains this season. Keegan Lowe has the honour for home and away games, while Curtis Lazar and TJ Foster will wear A's exclusively at home. Michael St.Croix and Travis Ewanyk will wear the A's on the road.

Reinhart will make his debut as Oil Kings captain this Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 p.m. against the Kootenay Ice on the Oil Kings Banner Raising Opening Night. Fans can be a part of history as the Oil Kings raise their first WHL Championship banner of the modern era to the rafters of Rexall Place. The first 7500 fans at the game will receive a commemorative replica WHL Championship Mini Banner!
