Storm names captains

Press Release

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that Matt Finn will captain the 2012-13 squad. The third-year defenceman will be supported by three Assistant Captains, Zack Mitchell, Brock McGinn and Ryan Horvat.

Finn and McGinn were assistant captains last year. All four will sport their letters starting Thursday night in Brampton.

Finn was named the Most Valuable Player of the Storm in 2011-12 after recording 10 goals and 38 assists for 48 points. In the off-season, the Toronto native was selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A GMHA Junior Storm graduate, McGinn was also a second round pick in the recent NHL draft when he was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes.

19 year forwards Mitchell and Horvat are both coming off career-best OHL seasons when they collected 75 and 25 points respectively.

Pre-season at the Sleeman Centre continues as the Storm hosts the Brampton Battalion on Friday night for a 7:30pm puck drop. General Admission tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting the Guelph Storm Box Office in Old Quebec Street Mall.
