The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that forward Ben Gallacher has
committed to the University of UMass-Amherst of the Hockey East
Conference. The Minutemen are coached by John Micheletto, who enters his
1st season behind the bench.
Gallacher joined the Gamblers after a season in the
colligate ranks playing for former Green Bay Gambler head coach Mark
Osiecki at Ohio State University. As a freshman, Gallacher appeared in
24 games for the Buckeyes registering 12 points (one goal and 11 assists). Prior to Ohio State, Gallacher was selected by the Florida
Panthers in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (No. 93
overall) and spent the past three season with the Camrose Kodiaks in the
AJHL.
Gallacher becomes the 14th Gambler on the 2012-2013 squad to commit to a NCAA Division I institution. Others include forwards Kyle Novak (Western Michigan), Matthew Weis (Ohio State), Nicholas Schilkey (Ohio State), Alex Kile (Michigan) Ryan Siroky (Miami), Brendan Lemieux (North Dakota), Nick Schmaltz (North Dakota), Sheldon Dries (Western Michigan) defensemen, Jake Linhart (Wisconsin), Brandon Kirk (Dartmouth), Gustav Olofsson (Colorado College), Jordan Gross (Notre Dame) and goaltender Mike Rotolo (St. Lawrence).
