Lancers Ready to Open New Home

Press Release

After spending the first month of the season on the road, the Omaha Lancers get ready to play their first home game of the 2012-13 USHL regular season on Friday.  But this won’t be any ordinary game as the Lancers will play their first-ever contest inside their brand new home – Ralston Sports and Entertainment Center.

The Lancers played their first eight games of the season away from Omaha in order for the finishing touches to be completed on the state-of-the-art facility.  Ralston Arena will seat 3,500 fans for hockey and a limited number of tickets remain for the historic opener on Friday night as the Lancers host the Tri-City Storm.
One of the most iconic Member Clubs in the USHL, the Omaha Lancers have won at least 30 games in 20 consecutive seasons.  They have also reached the Clark Cup Playoffs in 23 consecutive seasons, a streak unmatched in any major sport.  In addition to hundreds of Lancers that have moved on to play NCAA Division I hockey, a large number have reached the NHL, including such players as Paul Stastny, Keith Ballard, Matt Carle, Ryan Malone, and Dan Ellis.  Another former Lancer to reach the NHL, and Omaha native, Jed Ortmeyer is scheduled to attend the Lancers home opener on Friday.

Other special hockey guests in attendance for the first USHL game in the Ralston Arena include NHL Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, high-profile NHL agent Pat Brisson, and NHL defenseman Sean O’Donnell.
Game time for the first game at Ralston Arena is set for 7:05 PM (CST).  Fans can follow the live scoring via the USHL Scoreboard or watch the game live online via the USHL on FASTHockey.
