OHL Announces Disciplinary Action

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of the completion of the review of two (2) separate incidents which took place in games played on Wednesday October 24, and Thursday October 25, 2012.


Game of Wednesday, October 24th, 2012 – Oshawa Generals at Ottawa 67’s

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which took place in a game played in Ottawa on the 24th of October, 2012 involving the 67’s and the visiting Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Scott Laughton of the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Scott Laughton shall be suspended for ten (10) games, dating from but not including the game of Wednesday, October 24th, 2012.

Game of Thursday, October 25th, 2012 – Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at Niagara IceDogs

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which took place in a game played in Niagara on the 25th of October, 2012 involving the IceDogs and the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Landon Schiller of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Hockey Club.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Landon Schiller shall be suspended for ten (10) games, dating from but not including the game of Thursday, October 25th, 2012.

The league has taken the position, that for education purposes, announcements regarding supplementary discipline may be supported by video footage and additional rationale for all incidents involving checking to the head, checking from behind, and others at the discretion of the league.
