Ouellet, Drouin and Mantha named the TELUS three stars of the week

Xavier Ouellet, Jonathan Drouin and Anthony Mantha were named today, the TELUS three stars of the week for October 22nd to October 28, 2012.

Xavier Ouellet the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada defenseman collected 8 points in 3 games, with 7 assists and was named the first star of the week. The captain of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada had his best game against the Shawinigan Cataractes on Tuesday October 23rd when he equalled the team’s record of 4 assists in one game by a defenseman, which he had set himself last season, winning the game 7-1. He had another great night on Saturday against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, collecting 3 points in a 7-1 win. The 2nd round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2011 is ranked second place of all the league’s defensemen with 18 points in 16 games right behind Konrad Abeltshauser from the Halifax Mooseheads with 19 points.

Jonathan Drouin, the Halifax Mooseheads forward came back strong after an injury on October 6th. In 3 games this week, Drouin scored 5 goals and 3 assists and is named the second star of the week. On October 24th against the Drummondville Voltigeurs he scored 2 goals and added 2 assists for a total of 4 points. Three days later, he scored 3 goals against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, the last one being his 10th of the season. It’s worth noting that Drouin has maintained thus far 2.3 points per game in 2012-13 (23 points in 10 games).

It was an 8-point-week for Val-d’Or Foreurs forward Anthony Mantha, who’s an imposing figure in the rink at 6’3’’, 200lbs. The number 8 collected 5 points, a personal best, including 4 goals in a 5-4 win against the Rimouski Océanic on Friday, which earned him the title of 1st star; it was his 3rd hat trick of the season. The night before, against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, he made 3 assists and he scored a goal during a penalty kill.
