QMJHL launches Players First Campaign

Press Release

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League launched today its Players First campaign outlining the many programs and services offered to its players. An informational pamphlet will be distributed to players to help explain how they can benefit the most from their time in the QMJHL in terms of education, professional and personal support, hockey development, health and safety. Throughout this campaign the League will send out tweets and Facebook messages in order better help players, parents and friends find the right channels to seek out guidance and support.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s objective is to enable each player to perform and succeed on the ice and in the classroom. The League’s school attendance rate demonstrates the effectiveness of the QMJHL Education Policy. For the 2010-2011 season alone, 93% of players were enrolled in a school program or involved in a practical learning program, an increase of 1.5% when compared to the previous season.

The QMJHL has the excellent reputation of offering high quality professional services, including access to: physicians, athletic therapists, nutritionists, strength coaches, dentists and neuropsychologists.

Since 2009, the League also offers the Players Support Program to help players manage life’s challenges and resolve personal problems before they become more serious. This program provides personalized and confidential support in a timely manner through a toll-free number that players can call or resources they can visit. An information pamphlet will also be distributed to players containing all the details and toll-free phone number for this service.
