Press Release
PENTICTON, BC–The
Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Mike Rebry
(93) has committed to Western Michigan University for 2014. Rebry’s
announcement, to join the Western Michigan Broncos, comes on the heels
of Sam Mellor’s announcement. The duo have both committed to the
Broncos.
Rebry is currently in his first season with the Vees
and is off to an impressive start. The Clear Creek, Ontario product has
manufactured five goals and 11 points through eight games; Rebry is
leading the team in scoring and is sitting fourth overall in the BCHL.
Also, Rebry has a pension of scoring big goals, as he leads the team in
game-winners with two.
Vees Head Coach and GM Fred Harbinson
says Rebry has a high ceiling, “Mike has had a lot of changes to deal
with since moving out west, but has quietly become one of the BCHL’s
best two way players. We are excited to have an opportunity to develop
Mike over the next two seasons, for Western Michigan University.”
Prior
to joining the Vees, Rebry spent last season with the Brantford Eagles
of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. Rebry led the team in
scoring, amassing 28 goals and 58 points in 48 games. Rebry had a
breakout performance in the playoffs, leading the Eagles to the Ontario
Jr. ‘B’ Championship Final. In 29 post-season games, Rebry racked up 14
goals and 24 points on his way to being named one of three Ontario
Hockey Association Top Prospects award recipients.
