Spruce Kings Trade for Shayne Morrissey

Press Release sent to the World of Junior Hockey

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) have completed a trade with the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). The Spruce Kings acquired Shayne Morrissey (‘92) in exchange for Alec Butcher (‘94) and future considerations.
Shayne Morrissey is a 5’ 9” 172 lbs left handed forward from St. John’s, Newfoundland. Morrissey led the Canadians with 87 points (34G, 53A) in 62 games last season. His Junior ‘A’ career record consists of 190 games played with 102 goals and 130 assists for 232 points.
"I'm very excited that we were able to acquire Shayne,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “He is a highly skilled, impact player who will come in and compliment an already strong forward group. He is also a tremendous young man who will fit in well with our organization's core values."

Morrissey is committed to the educational route to pursue his hockey goals and gaining a scholarship while playing for the Prince George Spruce Kings. He is expected to arrive in time for the Spruce Kings three game road trip this weekend with games against the Surrey Eagles Friday and the Langley Rivermen Saturday and Sunday.
The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to thank Alec Butcher for his contributions to the team and wish him all the best with his hockey career.
