Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Curtis Valk of the Medicine Hat Tigers is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 29 after scoring seven goals with three assists for 10 points in four games with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.

Valk helped lead the Tigers to four wins last week beginning with a two-goal performance Wednesday night as third star of a 4-3 shootout win against the Kelowna Rockets.  He followed that up by producing the best offensive game of his career on Friday scoring four goals with one assist as first star of a 10-1 win over the Calgary Hitmen.  His week wrapped up with a two-assist game on Saturday as second star of a 5-4 win over the Regina Pats before scoring a single goal in a 3-2 overtime win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Valk, a 19-year-old from Medicine Hat, AB, is playing in his third full WHL season with his hometown Tigers.  Currently riding a career-high seven-game point streak, Valk sits fourth in WHL scoring with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points in 17 games this season.

Also considered for the award this week were a pair of defencemen including Detroit Red Wings prospect Xavier Ouellet of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, and Vancouver Canucks prospect Frank Corrado of the Sudbury Wolves.  Ouellet scored once with seven assists for eight points in three games, while Corrado contributed seven points in three games scoring once with six assists.
