Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Raphaël
Bussières of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar is the CHL Player of the Week for
the week ending November 18 after recording 10 points including four
goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.
Bussières helped the Drakkar tie a franchise record of 15 consecutive
games without a regulation loss while moving into third place in the
QMJHL Standings. Last Wednesday he matched a career-high with four
points in a 7-1 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes where he scored a
goal and three assists as second star of the game. He finished the week
with back-to-back three-point games against the Rimouski Oceanic
scoring twice with an assist Saturday as first star of a 6-2 win, then
collected a goal and two assists as third star of a 5-4 overtime loss on
Sunday.
Bussières, a 19-year-old from St-Hubert, QC, is playing in his fourth
QMJHL season with the Drakkar. Selected in the second round of the
2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, he has 13 goals and 19
assists for 32 points in 23 games so far this season.
Also considered for the award this week was Colin Smith of the
Kamloops Blazers who scored one goal and six assists for seven points in
two games, and Seth Griffith of the London Knights who scored three
goals and six assists for nine points in three games.
