Press Release
The Laconia Leafs have announced that Austrian-born Phillip Cirtek will represent his country at the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships, which will be contested from Dec. 9-15 in France.
Cirtek, a 1994-born forward from Klegenfurt, has three goals and an assist through 22 games with the Leafs this season.
“Philipp has been a great addition to our team,” Leafs head coach Joe Cardarelli said
of the 6-foot-2, 194-pounder. “His hard work, on and off the ice, has
paid off with his invitation to play for his country at the World Junior
Championships.”
Austria will compete in the Division I Group A championships, along with Belarus, France, Denmark, Norway and Slovenia.
“The entire Leafs organization will be rooting for Phillip’s and Austria's success in France next month,” Cardarelli added.
