OHL Announces Disciplinary Action

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which took place in a game played in Sault Ste. Marie on the 2nd of November, 2012 involving the Greyhounds and the visiting Ottawa 67’s Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Chris Buonomo of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Hockey Club.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Chris Buonomo shall be suspended for fifteen (15) games, dating from but not including the game of Friday, November 2nd, 2012.

The league has taken the position, that for education purposes, announcements regarding supplementary discipline may be supported by video footage and additional rationale for all incidents involving checking to the head, checking from behind, and others at the discretion of the league.
