Press Release
The Amherst Ramblers Jr. A Hockey Club has a new corporate sponsor. The
Maltby Casey Investment Group & CIBC Wood Gundy Amherst will be the
new major corporate sponsor. The Maltby Casey Investment Group is a
local team of investment professionals who operate the CIBC Wood Gundy,
in Amherst and service clients throughout the Maritimes. CIBC Wood Gundy
and Renaissance Investments both divisions of CIBC, are assisting in
contributing to the sponsorship.
CIBC Wood Gundy is one of Canadas oldest and most respected investment
firms, offering wealth management solutions to individuals and corporate
accounts since 1905. The Amherst office of CIBC Wood Gundy is operated
by the team of Stephen Maltby and Mark Casey and their supporting staff
of Deann Boudreau, Carol Hurley as well as their Planning and Estate
advisors Neil Stover and Bruce Morrison.
The Ramblers organization is celebrating it's 45th anniversary and is
the only original franchise to continue to operate out of the same
location and under the same name. The Ramblers are a community based
hockey club, headed by president Jim Henwood, vice president Keith
Blenkhorn and vice president Jamie Matthews. The Ramblers are operated
by a volunteer board of Directors. The Ramblers have not had the luxury
of a major sponsor for a number of years.
"With the addition of The Maltby Casey Investment Group & CIBC Wood
Gundy Amherst, the team has been given an opportunity to be on a equal
playing field with most teams in the MHL" states team GM/Coach, Jim
Bottomley.
Both the Maltby & Casey name, goes back a long way in supporting
Amherst organizations . Stephen's father Roy, has worked tirelessly
volunteering his time and his financial support in the hockey community
in Amherst. Roy was both president of the Metro Valley Junior Hockey
League (the predecessor of the MHL) and of the Ramblers organization,
while his uncle Walter was a coach of the Ramblers, and to this day is a
volunteer member. Stephen Maltby has been active in hockey in the minor
and junior levels as a coach, player, referee and sponsor of many
events and teams.
Mark Casey's father, Dan, is a long time businessman in Amherst and his
uncle Bill is the former MP for Cumberland Colchester and Musquodoboit
Valley. The Casey families have always been generous supporters of a
variety of community events and organizations.
Stephen Maltby, who is Maritime District Vice-President and manager for
CIBC Wood Gundy stated that "We are very pleased to be able to assist
the Ramblers in their operations. Our organization both locally and
nationally believe in giving back to the communities where we make our
livings and we quietly support a large number of organizations. CIBC
Wood Gundy is a leading investment group with 13 branches in the
Maritimes and we are active supporters both personally and corporately
in every community that we work and live in.”
"A new chapter in the history of the Amherst Ramblers is starting today.
I couldn't be more proud to be a Rambler and be associated with CIBC
Wood Gundy and The Maltby Casey Team. This is going to bring the
financial stability and professionalism that we've been looking for a
longtime to obtain. The Ramblers organization is looking forward to long
working relationship with The Maltby Casey Group and CIBC Wood Gundy."
stated Jim Henwood, president.
