Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Patrik
Bartosak of the Red Deer Rebels is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
for the week ending November 25 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a
shutout victory along with an impressive goals-against-average of 0.63
and save percentage of .982.
Bartosak turned aside 108 shots last week backstopping the Rebels to
three straight wins beginning Tuesday night where he was perfect making
43 saves to record his first shutout of the season as first star of a
4-0 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. He followed that up with a pair
of shootout victories including Friday night’s 2-1 win over the
Lethbridge Hurricanes where he made 23 saves and stopped all three
shooters. He was then named first star of Saturday night’s 2-1 shootout
win over the Moose Jaw Warriors making 42 saves and stopping three of
four shooters to preserve the victory.
Bartosak, a 19-year-old from Koprivnice, Czech Republic, is playing
in his second WHL season with the Rebels. He currently holds a 13-7-1-0
record with a goals-against-average of 2.35 along with the third
highest save percentage in the WHL with a mark of .933.
Also considered for the award this week was Garret Sparks of the
Guelph Storm who went 2-0-0-0 with a shutout victory posting a
goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .968. Rookie
Alexandre Belanger of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies also went 2-0-0-0 with a
shutout victory and a goals-against-average of 1.00 along with a save
percentage of .961.
