Press Release
Amarillo, TX- The
Amarillo Bulls are pleased to announce that long time local resident
Rick Matchett has joined the organization effective immediately in the
capacity of VP/GM business operations. Chris Laurie has moved to a
capacity with CSH in supporting organizations on business initiatives.
Chris was the original GM, laying the foundation for the early success
of the franchise.
Rick joins the Bulls
with extensive leadership and sales experience. He was GM of Cumulus
Radio, worked for the CVB in Amarillo and has been a marketing
consultant at local television stations. “Rick came highly recommended
and we felt it was extremely important to have a local leader for the
Bulls, someone who knows the Texas Panhandle and has the experience that
Rick does. He brings professionalism, business experience and a
commitment to succeed as this is his home town, and that was a key in
brining Rick on board,” stated Gary Gelinas, President of the Bulls and
owners CSH.
I’m excited to have this
opportunity with a great organization and a winning team,” stated
Rick. “Chris and his staff have done a great job with the franchise and
I look forward to continuing the success! Hockey is a great sport for
Amarillo and the panhandle and the future is exciting!” Rick looks
forward to meeting all the great Hockey fans in the panhandle.
Chris Laurie will
continue to provide his expertise to CSH as the organization continues
to support current properties and develops markets. CSH thanks Chris for
all his hard work in laying the foundation and launching the Bulls
franchise.
“The Bulls franchise is
in a good place right now and the addition of Rick will only grow the
local ties and boost the already strong Bulls following. I thank the
staff and fans for making my time in Amarillo enjoyable and I look
forward to my next venture within CSH,” stated Laurie.
The change comes at a
time of success for the Bulls organization. The Bulls regular season
record dating back to their inaugural season sits at 94-25-16 along with
two South Division Championships. Off the ice, the Bulls were 4th
in the league in average attendance last season and were awarded NAHL
organization of the year. The objective moving forward is to continue
building on these achievements and become a flagship franchise in the
North American Hockey League.
Fans can come by and meet Rick Matchett on Saturday night in the Bull Pen from 6:30 pm to game time.
