Screaming Eagles Acquire Jakub Culek

Press Release

Sydney – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced today that they have acquired overage European forward Jakub Culek (07/09/1992) from the Rimouski Oceanic for a 4th round draft pick in 2014 and a 9th round draft pick in 2013.

Culek, a native of Plzen, Czech Republic, was a 3rd round draft pick (76th overall) of the Ottawa Senators in 2010.  He played the last 3 seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic.  In 173 games he recorded 33 goals and 76 assists for a total of 109 points.

With the addition of Culek, the Screaming Eagles now have four overage players including Simon Darveau, Alexandre Lavoie, and Jonthan Oligny.  It is expected that the Screaming Eagles will reduce this number to 3 overage players within the next few days.

Additionally, the Screaming Eagles announced today that forward Zack Beaton has been reassigned to the Summerside Western Capitols of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.  Beaton was selected by the Screaming Eagles in the 12th round (204th overall) at the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.
