SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 Joey Davies, Humboldt Broncos
1992 F Joey Davies (Demorestville ON) collected points in all three games he played last week, and has really picked up the scoring slack in the wake of an epidemic of injuries to the Humboldt roster.  Davies had a huge night on province-wide television, scoring three goals and setting up two more in a shootout win over La Ronge last Thursday.  He also had his team’s only goal in a defeat against Flin Flon earlier in the week and then closed out the session with an assist in a victory over red hot Melville on Sunday.  He has 14-points in his last 9-games and now has 11-goals and 10-assists in 17-games for the season.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Mitch Boucher, Notre Dame Hounds
1992 D Mitch Boucher (Moose Jaw SK) played four games last week and registered, at least, a single point in each one.  On Monday, despite a 4-1 loss to Battlefords, Boucher got one helper.  He also had an assist in a 6-1 victory over Estevan on Thursday.  He scored the only goal of the game on Friday in a 1-0 decision over Melfort.  And, he had a hand in three goals in a victory over Nipawin on Sunday.  The banner seven days runs Boucher’s season totals to 4-goals and 8-assists in 15-games.

 
SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Daylan Gatzke, Yorkton Terriers
1994 F Daylan Gatzke (Swift Current SK) had a couple of big games in Kindersley last week, the SJHL center closest to his hometown, and that propelled him to this week’s nod.  Gatzke scored a pair of goals in Friday night’s 7-1 decision.  One night later, he fired two more and also had a hand in two as part of a 6-5 shootout victory.  Gatzke now has 6-goals and 5-assists in 16-games and is fifth in the SJHL rookie scoring parade overall.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Devin Buffalo, Flin Flon Bombers
1993 G Devin Buffalo (Wetaskiwin AB) had two excellent starts on the road last week to win this nomination for the second week in a row.  On Tuesday night, he backstopped the Bombers to a 3-1 decision in Nipawin by turning away 31-shots.  One night later, he stopped 37-of-38 at the EPA during a 4-1 victory over the Humboldt Broncos.  Buffalo’s season numbers have him leading the league in wins, goals against average, and save percentage (11-2, 1.92, .938).
