TEAM WHL CAPTAINS ANNOUNCED; ROSTER CHANGES

CALGARY, AB – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Western Hockey League, the Vancouver Giants and Victoria Royals Hockey Clubs today announced the players that will serve as Captains and Assistant Captains for Team WHL who will compete against the Russia National Junior Team in the 2012 SUBWAY® Super Series.  Team WHL will face Team Russia in games five and six of the series played on Wednesday, November 14 in Vancouver, BC, and on Thursday, November 15 in Victoria, BC.  The first two games of the series were hosted by the QMJHL with the OHL hosting games three and four.

Everett Silvertips’ defenceman Ryan Murray has been named Team WHL captain for game five of the SUBWAY® Super Series in Vancouver, BC.  The 19-year-old from White City, SK, is playing his fourth year with the Silvertips and was recently selected 2nd overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2012 NHL Draft.  Murray is representing Team WHL for the third straight season.

Swift Current Broncos forward Adam Lowry has been named Team WHL captain for game six of the SUBWAY® Super Series in Victoria, BC.  The 19-year-old from Calgary, AB, is playing his fourth year with the Broncos and was a 3rd round selection by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2011 NHL Draft.  Lowry is presenting Team WHL for the second straight season.

Griffin Reinhart (Edmonton Oil Kings) selected 4th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2012 NHL Draft, Morgan Rielly (Moose Jaw Warriors) selected 5th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Draft and Mathew Dumba (Red Deer Rebels) selected 7th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 NHL Draft have all been named assistant captains for Team WHL for both games five and six, on Wednesday, November 14 in Vancouver, BC, and on Thursday, November 15 in Victoria, BC.

TEAM WHL ROSTER UPDATE

The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Western Hockey League, the Vancouver Giants and Victoria Royals Hockey Clubs today announced that due to injury the Edmonton Oil Kings’ Mitch Moroz and the Regina Pats’ Trent Ouellette will be unable to participate in the 2012 SUBWAY® Super Series.  Moroz was originally scheduled to play both games five and six for Team WHL, while Ouellette was slated for game five only.

To fill the vacancies in the Team WHL rosters, Graham Black (Swift Current Broncos) and Sam Fioretti (Moose Jaw Warriors), who were originally scheduled to play game six in Victoria, will now also play game five in Vancouver.  The Spokane Chiefs Mitch Holmberg who was originally scheduled to play game five in Vancouver, will now also play game six in Victoria.
