Sarnia, ON – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the
Ontario Hockey League today announced that Garrett Meurs of the Plymouth
Whalers will compete for Team OHL in the 2012 SUBWAY Super Series on
Monday November 12 in Sarnia, ON.
Meurs, a 19-year-old from Ripley, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL
season with the Whalers. Selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL
Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche, Meurs is second in Whalers team
scoring with 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points in 19 games. He
replaces forward Ryan Rupert of the London Knights who is unable to
compete due to injury.
Team Russia currently leads the 2012 SUBWAY Super Series with a 2-1-0
record (6-3 in points) after splitting games against the QMJHL and then
defeating Team OHL 2-1 in Guelph on Thursday.
