Press Release

François Brassard, Zachary Fucale and Jean-Sébastien Dea were today named the TELUS three stars of the week for March 4 to 10, 2013.

This week’s QMJHL highest honour is awarded to the Quebec Remparts netminder, François Brassard. The Remparts were dominant during this week’s activities in the QMJHL by winning their three starts on the road facing high ranking teams. During this impressive streak, Brassard maintained a goals against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .944 while facing on average 36 shots per game. While visiting the Henry-Leonard Center in Baie-Comeau last Tuesday night, Brassard and his teammates were able to defeat the Drakkar by a score of 2-1. Brassard also helped his team defeat the Tigres by a score of 5-3. His 37 saves earned him the third star of the game. The young Ottawa Senators prospect earned the first star of the night against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada with 33 saves. He registered his 30th win of the season which is the second highest total in the league right after Zachary Fucale’s 43 wins.

Goalies are in the spotlight this week as the TELUS second star goes to Zachary Fucale of the Halifax Mooseheads. In three games, he maintained a record of two wins and one loss in overtime while maintaining an incredible goals against average of 1,82 and a save percentage of .942. Last Wednesday night, Fucale took over for Chris Clarke with 7 minutes to go against Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Unfortunately for him, he gave up the winning goal in overtime and the Titan edged the Mooseheads in the game by a score of 8-7. Last Friday night, Zachary Fucale excelled allowing his team to defeat the Moncton Wildcats in Halifax by a score of 3-1 even though Moncton outshot Halifax 35 to 22. His 34 saves earned him the first star of the game. Fucale once again stood up in the second duel against the Wildcats that ended 3-2 in shootout for the Mooseheads. He was named the third star of the game with 30 saves. The young Rosemère native is perceived as the most promising goaltender for the next NHL entry draft.

The third star for this week’s activities in the QMJHL goes to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies forward Jean-Sébastien Dea. In three games, he registered a total of five goals and two assists. He has contributed greatly to the success of the Huskies this week; banking 4 points out of a possible 6. Last Wednesday, Dea scored his 40th goal of the season while his team was defeated 6-3 against the Phoenix in Sherbrooke. In addition, he was named the third star of the game with a goal and an assist in the first game of a two-game series in Rimouski. The first game ended in 4-3 in favour of the visiting team. The next day, the Huskies won 8-2 against the Océanic. Jean-Sébastien Dea had a remarkable night recording four points.
