CALGARY HITMEN: Moore Appointed Assistant GM

Press Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen announced today that current Director of Business Operations Mike Moore has been appointed to Assistant General Manager of the Western Hockey League club. His hockey operations duties will be in addition to his current responsibilities of operating the business side of the organization.

“I am very pleased to be able to bring Mike into the hockey operations side of the Hitmen organization,” said Hitmen General Manager, Executive Vice President and Alternate Governor Kelly Kisio. “With his numerous years in the WHL and knowledge of the game, it can only benefit our hockey club.”

Moore is in his 16th season in the Western Hockey League and fifth season with the Calgary Hitmen. Prior to joining the Hitmen, he was the Director of Athletics at Edge School in Calgary and helped implement the varsity prep hockey program.  Moore spent seven years as a General Manager in the WHL with both the Kamloops Blazers and Medicine Hat Tigers, and was the Hitmen Assistant General Manager in 1997-98. While General Manager in Kamloops, the Blazers won the Western Conference championship before succumbing to the Hitmen in the 1999 WHL Final.

Moore has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary.  He received the WHL Marketing/Public Relations Award in 2010-11 for his outstanding fundraising efforts and fan initiatives including setting a new Canadian Hockey League single game attendance record when 20,888 fans attended WHL Outdoors at McMahon Stadium on February 21, 2011.  Moore will continue with his duties as the Director of Business Operations and will also work under Kisio in Hockey Operations.
