CCHL TIER 1 JUNIOR A HOCKEY LEAGUE - CORPORATE HYPE FEBRUARY MONTHLY PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

The Central Canada Hockey League  (CCHL) is pleased to announce the Corporate Hype Player/Goalie/Rookie of the Month awards for February. The Player of the Month is Michael Pontarelli of the Cornwall Colts. Pontarelli had an outstanding month accumulating 22 points (12G, 10A) in the 8 games played in February. The Colts went 6-1-0-1 for the month while Pontarelli earned an incredible 1st star in 5 games and a 2nd star in another. The Union College commit boasted four multiple goal games including back to back hat tricks in wins over the Carleton Place Canadians. The Laval, QC native currently leads the CCHL in overall scoring with 104 points (51G, 53A) in 52 games and has been held without a point in only 3 of his last 35 games.

Joining Pontarelli is Colt teammate Jordan Piccolino who has been selected Goalie of the Month. Piccolino enjoyed an outstanding month leading all goaltenders with an impressive 5-1-0-1 record including one shut-out. The Colts netminder  posted a solid .948 Save Percentage, a 1.66 Goals Against and currently leads the CCHL in overall wins with 24.

Darren Smith of the Pembroke Lumber Kings is the Rookie of the Month award winner for a second consecutive time. The Lumber Kings goalie won the same award for January and continues to be a key to Pembroke’s success. Smith was 4-1-0-1 for February and earned four game stars for his efforts. The Barrie, ON netminder posted a 2.5 Goals Against and .938 Save Percentage, is currently 23-8-0-3, is top 10 in Goals Against and Top 5 in Save Percentage in overall league statistics.

Player of the Month –  F Corey Durocher (Nepean Raiders), F Ben Robillard (Ottawa Jr. Senators) and D Andrew DeBrincat (Cumberland Grads)
