The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed forward
Taylor Peters to a three-year entry level contract, beginning with the
2013-14 season. Peters will remain with his current club, the Portland
Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL), for the rest of the
2012-13 campaign.
Peters, 21, has skated for the
Winterhawks in each of the last six seasons, collecting 111 points
(43G-68A) in 313 games.This year, the 6-foot-3, 207-pound forward has
earned 37 points (13G-24A), 46 penalty minutes and a plus-24 rating in
62 games for the club. He helped lead his team to WHL Final appearances
the last two years and ranks 11th all-time for the Winterhawks in
playoff games played (45). In 2011-12, Peters won the team's Best
Defensive Player Award and was also named a co-Scholastic Player of the
Year.
"Taylor Peters brings size, good faceoff ability,
strong defensive awareness and adds to our organizational depth down the
middle," said Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We look forward to watching him develop with the Texas Stars next year."
