Press Release

Toronto - The Ontario Under 17 Program Policy Committee is pleased to announce Roger Hunt as the Head Coach of Ontario’s Under 17 team through the 2013-15 seasons. Roger is currently an Assistant coach with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

"The committee is pleased that Roger has agreed to become the head coach of Ontario’s Under 17 Team that will be competing at the 2014 World Hockey Challenge, stated Chairman Ted Baker.” It is always a difficult task to select the right person to coach a team of this calibre given the number of qualified applicants we received, however, the committee agreed that Roger’s knowledge, experience and leadership qualities made him the right choice to coach our Under 17 high performance athletes who will compete at the 2014 World Hockey Challenge being held in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.”

"It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I accept the head coaching position of Ontario’s Under 17 team, stated Hunt. I am honoured the committee has chosen me and I look forward to leading our Under 17 team as we prepare to compete and represent Ontario at the 2014 World Hockey Challenge.”

The Under 17 Policy Committee is also pleased to announce that they have selected Drew Bannister and Seamus Kotyk as assistant coaches of Ontario’s Under 17 team. Mr. Bannister is currently an assistant coach with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL while Mr. Kotyk is an assistant coach with the OHL’s Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds.
