Lakers' Christianson named Pizza Hut player of the week

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Jordan Christianson of the Fort Frances Lakers has been named the Pizza Hut player of the week for the period concluding March 3.

In three outings this past week the 20-year-old forward, who hails from just across the border from Fort Frances in International Falls, Minn., registered seven points on a pair of tallies and five assists helping the Lakers skate to a trio of victories.

Christianson began his award-winning effort last Tuesday by scoring once and dishing out three assists in a 5-4 win over the Dryden Ice Dogs.

One night later, on the road, he notched another marker and set-up one more in a 4-3 shootout triumph over the league-leading Minnesota Wilderness.

The Lakers’ assistant captain then concluded his week adding another helper in a 5-2 victory over the Ice Dogs on Saturday.

On the season Christianson sits third in SIJHL offensive production with 68 points on 22 goals and 46 assists.

Honourable Mention for Pizza Hut player of the week went to forwards Chris Belhumeur of the Dryden Ice Dogs and Jeremy Johnson of the Minnesota Wilderness.

At the conclusion of the 2012-13 regular season the SIJHL’s top performer will earn the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
