Press Release
Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede have called up affiliate
defenseman Jake Zeleznikar for their games this weekend. He will wear
#19 and is eligible to play tonight in Kearney, Neb. against Tri-City
and tomorrow night in Sioux City. Affiliate players are allowed to play
in up to 10 regular season games without being on the official roster.
The Hermantown, Minn. native just completed his senior season playing
at Hermantown High School where he posted 47 points (11g, 36a) in just
31 games played. He helped lead the Hawks to the Minnesota State High
School “A” Championship game against St. Thomas Academy in which they
fell in the final seconds, 5-4.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman was originally selected by the
Stampede during the 2012 USHL Draft and then placed on the Herd’s
affiliate list after tryout camp as he went on to play his senior season
at Hermantown. Although his stats are impressive, he also received some
publicity for his hair during the Minnesota State High School Hockey
Tournament where he was named to the All-Hockey Hair Team. Click here
