CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK MAR 31

Press Release

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER AND DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Brady Norrish, Yorkton Terriers
1993 D Brady Norrish (Strongfield SK) was so impressive last week, that he nabs both awards for the past seven days.  Norrish scored three goals and one assist in four games in leading the Terriers to a six game series victory over the Melville Millionaires, advancing them to the Canalta Cup finals.  Norrish’s ability to jump into the play without abandoning his defensive assignments are extremely impressive and he figures to pose match-up problems for the Humboldt Broncos this week too.

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dylan Johnson, Yorkton Terriers
1994 F Dylan Johnson (Yorkton SK) delivered the final nails into the coffin of the Melville Millionaires on Saturday night by scoring two goals in his club’s 5-2 victory.  Johnson had been a healthy scratch for the the first four games of the series, but drew back in when the club was hit with illness and injuries for game five.  He kept his spot in the line-up for game six and sunk the Mils hopes when he tallied both markers two and a half minutes apart late in the second period.

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Devin Buffalo, Flin Flon Bombers
1993 G Devin Buffalo (Wetaskiwin AB) did everything in his power to get the Flin Flon Bombers into the Canalta Cup final, however he fell just short in a series that saw the Bombers lose three games in overtime or double overtime.  Buffalo blanked the Humboldt Broncos in game three and ended up having shutout streak of 130:15 before he was beaten in the third period of game four.  He ended the week (and the series) with a 1-and-2 record for his efforts of posting a GAA of 1.12 and a SPCT of .972.
