Clippers sign two players for 2013-14

Press Release

While the Nanaimo Clippers are busy preparing for the 2013 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup starting April 26th at Frank Crane Arena, the team would like to announce two signings for the 2013/2014 season.

The Clippers have added Sheldon Rempal and Eric Margo for next season.

Sheldon joins the Clippers after playing for the Calgary Buffaloes of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.  The 5’10” 160lb forward lead the Buffaloes in scoring and was 7th in AMHL scoring with 20 goals and 18 assists in 33 games.

Coach Comments: “We are very pleased that Sheldon has decided to play for our team next season.  Part of our scouting and recruiting focus this year has been on adding speed and skill to our forward group.  Sheldon will add exactly what we are looking for in this area.  He is a fast, skilled player, who plays with tenacity.  We know that Sheldon is a committed athlete who will fit into the culture of our team moving forward.  We would like to welcome Sheldon and his Family to the Clippers Family and look forward to seeing him in our jersey.”

Eric Margo joins the Clippers after playing the past two seasons with Vancouver Northwest Giants of the BC Major Midget Hockey League.  During his two seasons with the Giants, the 5’9” 185lb forward played 76 games, scoring 31 goals, 59 assists, for a total of 90 points and served as the Team Captain this past season.  Eric helped the Giants win the BC Major Midget League Championship in both 2012 and 2013 as well as the prestigious Midget Macs Tournament this past January in Calgary.  Eric will be participating at the Clippers Mini Camp this upcoming weekend along with the current roster players and other future Clippers.

Coach Vandekamp: “We are very excited to be adding Eric to our roster for next season.  He has been part of a Championship Midget Hockey program the past two seasons and has gained plenty of experience in big games along the way.  Having been the captain of his team, he understands what it takes to win, and he is a very committed player both on and off the ice.  He brings speed and tenacity to the ice every shift and plays hard on both sides of the puck.  His strong character, work ethic, and commitment will fit perfectly into the culture of our team.  We would like to welcome Eric and his Family to the Clippers Family and look forward to seeing him in our jersey.”
