CONACHER NAMED PLAYOFF MVP

Press Release

The Ontario Junior Hockey League tonight announced that Shane Conacher  of the St. Michael's Buzzers has been named the 2012-13 winner of the Brent Ladds Trophy as the Playoff Most Valuable Player.

Conacher was dominant throughout the Buzzers 2012-13 OJHL playoff run, leading the playoffs in scoring with 21 assists and 35 points in 23 games played, while factoring in on eight of the club's 16 game-winning goals throughout the course of the post-season, including scoring the championship-winning goal in the third period of the club's 3-1 game seven victory.

The 18-year old native of Burlington, Ontario started the season with the Burlington Cougars before his trade deadline acquisition by the Buzzers.  He finished the regular season with 28 goals and 57 points in 51 games played.

The Brent Ladds Trophy was officially dedicated on June 16, 2012 during the General Assembly of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) Annual General Meeting in Windsor, Ontario, upon Ladds official retirement following 36 years of service to OHA Hockey.

St. Michael's captured the OJHL Championship and the Frank L. Buckland Trophy for the first time since 2005-06 and will now represent the Ontario Junior Hockey League at the 2013 Dudley-Hewitt Cup being held from April 30 to May 4 in North Bay, Ontario.  The Buzzers open the tournament at 2:30pm on April 30 versus the NOJHL representative, the Soo Thunderbirds.
