Cornwall holds on for 4-3 win against Nepean

The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Cornwall Colts held on for a 4-3 victory.

Cornwall took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Nepean storm back on a Brent Norris goal 9:35 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win gave the Colts a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Cornwall was led by Jake Martin, who racked up one goal. Martin scored 6:06 into the third period to make the score Cornwall. Anthony Sanniti assisted on the tally.

The Colts forced the Raiders goalie Matt Zawadzki to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Cornwall also got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also tallied one goal and one assist andMarly Quince, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cornwall also got a goal from Mitch Zion as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Pierre Ouellette and Kevin Hope, who contributed one a piece.

Cornwall was unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

Nepean was helped by Cameron Yarwood, who grabbed one goal. Yarwood scored 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Keenan Hodgson provided the assist. Cory Durocher also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Brandon Wattand Mitchell Herlihey, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino recorded 51 saves for the Colts. Cornwall incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Raiders' Zawadzki stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Nepean incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
