EVERETT SILVERTIPS: Petryk Earns AHL Tryout

Press Release

EVERETT – Everett Silvertips forward Reid Petryk has joined the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League for the remainder of the 2012-13 season on an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO).  Petryk joined Lake Erie on Tuesday and made his professional debut on Wednesday, finishing with three shots on goal and two penalty minutes as the Monsters defeated the division rival Toronto Marlies 3-2 in overtime in a matinee road game.

Petryk, who turned 20 in February, completed his fourth WHL season on Monday when the Silvertips were eliminated from the 2013 WHL playoffs.  Playing in 70 of 72 games in his first full season with Everett this year, Petryk scored 16 goals and totaled a career-high 40 points to tie Manraj Hayer for third on the team in scoring.  Petryk, who also posted 61 penalty minutes this year, became an alternate Captain for the Silvertips in November after Ryan Murray’s season-ending injury and was named the team’s “Unsung Hero” during the year-end awards ceremony.

Acquired from the Medicine Hat Tigers last January in a trade-deadline deal, the Edmonton, Alberta native has since skated in 102 games with the Silvertips.  In 258 career WHL games, Petryk has 104 total points on 48 goals and 56 assists to go with 189 career penalty minutes.

Lake Erie (based in Cleveland, Ohio) is the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.  The Monsters currently stand seven points out of a Western Conference playoff spot with seven games remaining in their AHL season.
